Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

Battut ("the Service") is operated by Battut Sdn. Bhd. (Registration No. 202601011638 / 1673736-M), a company incorporated in Malaysia. By downloading, accessing, or using Battut, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and uninstall it.

2. Community Standards (Shariah Compliance)

Battut is a family-friendly platform built on Islamic ethical values. You strictly agree NOT to post content that includes:

• Prohibited Substances: Alcohol, drugs, or intoxicants.
• Prohibited Activities: Gambling, games of chance, or illicit sexual conduct.
• Inappropriate Attire / Undress: Content exposing ‘awrah (nudity or indecency) as understood in general Islamic standards.
• Hate Speech: Attacks on any group based on religion, race, or ethnicity.
• Prohibited Music: Explicit or clearly impermissible audio. Vocals-only or nasheed audio is encouraged.

3. User Content & Rights

• 3.1 Your Content: You retain ownership of the content you post.
• 3.2 License to Us: By posting, you grant Battut a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content within and in connection with operating, improving, and promoting the Service. This license lets us serve your content through our storage and content-delivery providers; it ends when you delete your content or account, except for copies retained as described in our Privacy Policy or required by law, and for content others have re-shared.
• 3.3 Removal: We reserve the right to remove any content we believe violates these Terms or our Community Standards.
• 3.4 Removal at Our Discretion: We may remove, hide, restrict, or disable access to any content — and suspend or terminate any account — at our sole discretion and at any time, with or without prior notice and without any obligation to give a reason. This includes content that may not breach these Terms but that we consider inappropriate or inconsistent with the spirit of the community. We will not be liable for any removal or suspension made in good faith.

4. User-Generated Content (UGC) Policy

• 4.1 Automated Filtering: All uploads are automatically scanned by our Shariah Guard AI for nudity, hate speech, prohibited substances, and other objectionable material before publication.
• 4.2 Reporting: Every post, reel, story, comment, and profile has a Report action in the ··· menu. Reports go straight to our moderation team.
• 4.3 Blocking: You may block any user from their profile at any time. Blocking hides their content and prevents interaction, and notifies our moderation team.
• 4.4 24-Hour Review: We commit to reviewing reports of objectionable content within 24 hours. Verified violations result in removal and suspension or termination.
• 4.5 Account Ejection: Users who post objectionable content or abuse others may be permanently terminated without prior notice.

5. AI & Automated Services

Battut uses custom AI for content moderation and recommendations.

6. Battut Rewards & Virtual Items

Battut is building a community-first "engage-to-earn" experience that recognizes the value you create. Elements of this program are being rolled out over time.

• 6.1 No Cash Value: In-app points, badges, wallet balances, and rewards have no monetary value, are not currency, and are not redeemable for cash except where we expressly and lawfully offer it.
• 6.2 Halal by Design: The rewards program is designed to avoid interest (riba) and gambling (maysir). Rewards are earned through genuine, permissible engagement — never through chance.
• 6.3 Changes & Reversal: We may adjust, suspend, or discontinue rewards features, and we may reverse any rewards obtained through fraud or abuse.

7. Business & Advertising

Businesses may advertise through the Battut Business portal under additional rules.

• 7.1 Halal Advertising: All ads and creatives must pass Shariah and admin review before they can run.
• 7.2 No-Interest Billing: Ad billing is designed to be free of interest. Advertisers fund campaigns from a prepaid ad wallet.
• 7.3 Server-Authoritative: Spend, delivery, and reporting figures are produced by our servers and are final.
• 7.4 Third-Party Ads: The app may display banner ads from third-party ad networks (e.g. the Muslim Ad Network). Their content originates from third parties, and tapping an ad may open an external website; you can report an inappropriate ad to us. See our Privacy Policy for the limited data shared to serve these ads.

8. Battut Plus & Billing

Battut Plus is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features (which may change over time).

• 8.1 Payment Providers: Depending on your platform and region, Plus is billed through Stripe (web), the Apple App Store, Google Play, or CHIP. Your payment details are handled by that provider, not by us.
• 8.2 Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. You authorize the applicable provider to charge the then-current price at each renewal.
• 8.3 Cancellation: You may cancel at any time — through your app-store account for in-app purchases, or the billing portal for web subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Plus until then.
• 8.4 Price Changes: We may change subscription prices. Changes apply to future billing periods, and we will give notice as required by the relevant store or by law.
• 8.5 Refunds: Except where required by law or the applicable app-store policy, payments are non-refundable, including for partial periods.
• 8.6 Taxes: Prices may be shown exclusive of taxes; you are responsible for any applicable taxes.

9. Copyright & Takedowns

We respect intellectual-property rights and expect you to do the same. Only post content you own or have permission to use.

• 9.1 Notice: If you believe content on Battut infringes your copyright or other rights, email [email protected] with: a description of the work, the location (link) of the infringing content, your contact details, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized.
• 9.2 Action: We will review valid notices and may remove or disable access to the content.
• 9.3 Counter-Notice: If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake, you may contact us to explain; we will consider reinstating it.
• 9.4 Repeat Infringers: We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms — in particular our Community Standards regarding Shariah compliance. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

11. Disclaimers & Liability

• "As Is" Service: Battut is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee the app will always be safe, secure, or error-free.
• Limitation: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Battut shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Battut Sdn. Bhd. and its officers and staff from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

13. Complaints, Governing Law & Disputes

Complaints — your sole recourse: If you find any content, advertisement, user, or conduct on Battut that you believe is objectionable, unlawful, or does not meet our standards, your remedy is to report it to us — in the app via the ··· → Report action, or by email at [email protected] — so we can review and act on it. We take such reports seriously and aim to review them promptly.

You agree that reporting to us is your primary and exclusive recourse, and that you will not, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: (a) take any hostile, retaliatory, or self-help action against Battut, its owners, staff, or infrastructure; (b) attempt to hack, disrupt, damage, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service; (c) harm or attempt to harm Battut’s reputation, business, or property; or (d) bring or take part in any legal claim, action, or proceeding against us in relation to content posted by other users, or to matters you could instead resolve by reporting them to us. Nothing in this clause limits any right you cannot waive under applicable law, or your ability to raise a matter with a competent data-protection or consumer authority.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at [email protected] — we will try to resolve it informally. If it cannot be resolved, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update, modify, or replace these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion, with or without prior notice. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above; we may, but are not obliged to, provide any additional notice. Your continued use of Battut after any update means you accept the revised Terms, and it is your responsibility to review them periodically.

15. General

• Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Battut regarding the Service.
• Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
• No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of it.
• Assignment: You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may assign ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or reorganization.
• Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
